WorldLink Nepal is Giving upto 1 MBps Internet Connection

High Speed Internet Connection First time In Nepal through Wlink.

In My Previous posts i had posted about poor internet service of wlink. Today wlink emailed all of its users announcing that high speed internet connection upto 1 MbPs will be available for normal users. This is the highest speed of internet speed available in Nepal currently for normal users. Before this Wlink Nepal was gicing 320 Kbps internet connection maximum. WorldLink hasn’t made clear about rates but it has said starting from 2500+VAT Per Month which is equal to $30 a month. I am expecting 1MBPS Connection for $60 around NRs 5000. However the connection is limited to WiZoom users only. WiZoom refers to its wireless connection plan. Cable users may have to wait few more months to get the high speed internet.

For International users this may not be any news because they have been using 2mbps to 10mbps internet connection. But for people of Nepal where still 80% are using dial up 56kbps connection this is really a great news and for users and webmasters like me and internet lovers this was indeed must have service ! We will love it. It will be now easy to coach students live via video streaming and get various training videos streaming.  Music download, streaming will be faster ! I am afraid that porn surfers will be happy because till now they were not able to watch porn videos streaming continuously because of slow internet connection. A 5 minutes video would take 30 minutes to stream !

Check out the email that Wlink Sent to all of its users :

i dont think it will ever be available to cable users.Worldlink is apparently falling short of bandwidth in their cable network.Do you remember years ago when we used to get blazing fast speed to local sites and some international hosted in akamai CDN network. We don’t get such speed because of this bandwidth congestion. That’s why they are promoting 1mbps packages via wizoom, and that also with volume restrictions of 30-50gb / month. And don’t forget the addition setup fees worth 4k that you’d have to pay for wireless device and such. Its better to switch to NTC’s adsl plans which have no data limits and have 512kbps at reasonable rate of Rs.2600 + taxes.

My wireless connection from Worldlink has been down for 5 weeks now. I call them every day. Every day they have a different excuse. In my humble opinion they might be the biggest but, also the most pathetic! I am trying to get hold of the phone number or e-mail of the owner or managing director. Does he/she know how completely pathetic the Worldlink support is? How does this company survive? My only advice is : DO NOT GET YOUR LINK WITH WORLDLINK. They are pathetic!

@Joe my internet was fixed today, i have been calling them for 2 weeks and today they fixed my wired line, they are apparently having problems with their backbone but thats no reason to keep users in dark. my advice is to talk straight to support staff in ur regional branch and ask them to send technicians.this was is much faster than calling 5523050

i’ve also found that they are upgrading their wired network to optical fibre so service should grow more stable and smooth in the next coming weeks

This is just an lure to attract so called blind nepalese people. I’ve tested so called 3xx kbps internet connection offered by worldlink. The page browsing is still slower than that offered by 128kpbs ntc adsl but downloading reaches max of 50kbps with average of 25kpbs. In my previous reply, I said that they are capable of providing more internet speed (around 1mbps). but they don’t want coz they are money suckers. they are sucking our money. If worldlink provide 1mbps at affordable price unlimited for a month for normal user, then only this strategy counts. otherwise, worldlink also is a f…king money suckers just like ntc……..You can get example of India where one can get 2mbps internet connection speed just for the rate we are paying for 256kbps for worldlink and 128kbps for adsl Ntc.

Thank you for your kind information. I really want to say that other countries are using 1-2 Mbps internet as their average speed, but we Nepalese still have to dream of it. And now the worldlink is just releasing its new packages of 1Mbps, but this is also going to be too costlier for the Nepalese standards, I think. Because 5000/month is not a joke, for people like me.

it’s very costly to get 1mbps for neplease people, some speed lovers can afford it but still it is like a dream that when we can get the high speed in low cost..

Im using my data plan of 384 kbps connection. But when I tried locating my location from my iPhone it always fails with mesz “couldnot determine location”…… Why is so this not happening with worldlink connection. But with ADSL connection it is easily determined.

And what I hate is that it takes 5-15 min to connect automatically from the router.

Frens, I came here after hour long of googling. I needed the user experience before taking any internet package from the available ISP’s in Kathmandu. As other folks here me too is a speed lover and I have thirst for net-hurricane. Wlink is providing net speed upto 1Mbps but thats too expensive for commons to afford. Most of the people here talk of speed/cost ratio. I went through the rate sheet of Wlink and found the night package of 712Kbps( WiZOOOMe) would fit my needs. Anyone has the idea of what download speed would it serve me ? I am expecting download speed of 100Kbps and above to download recent Applications/Video Tutorials/Youtube Videos etc.
WorldLink though criticized here has so far good customer service, acc. to one of my friend using 128kbps wireless.
