Reason why my site was not indexed even after a month

Being a webmaster, the first thing we would do in SEO is indexing our website in google.com and other search engines. I never had problem indexing a website but few days ago I found that one of my old site was still not indexed in google.com which was a surprise for me. Being a seo expert it was really a tough situation for me. It was more than one month and I had done the basic requirements to get a site indexed but still the site is not indexed. ? I had never looked at the site since one month and was not aware about it. Site was already indexed in yahoo.com and bing.com I then closely checked what I did and what I missed.

Things I had done:

Search Engine Submission to Google.Com, Yahoo and Bing

Webmaster verification

Sitemap creation and submission

Feed burner setup

RSS Feed Submission

Things I did not do

Social Bookmarking: The site didn’t have many pages neither had good article to submit to social sites. And I really hate spamming the social networking sites by submitting the main domain or a page with useless content. Though many seo experts recommend submitting your site to popular bookmarking site I don’t agree with them. Also request you all that please do not submit your sites to bookmarking sites just to get indexed in search engines or to get backlinks. Only submit if you think the content is valuable/ interesting. Respect the social media sites.

Well, after checking everything I was really surprised to find that site is not indexed yet. I then though may be the problem is with content, because site hadn’t more content and was not updated regularly. But it was not a solid reason. Even a site without content with just default index page of cpanel should get indexed and this was a site with installed wordpress and properly setup with few pages.

Ahh! Again I checked through and found that I hadn’t set-up google analytic.

Set Up Google Analytic

Setting up Google analytic was easy thing in wordpress. Just installed Ultimate GA plug-in and input the analytic code. I found that site was indexed when I checked after 24 hours.

How GA helps to index your website?

After you set up Google analytic the Google bot is forced to visit your website frequently to collect the visitor’s data. GA is only a way to invite Google bot frequently to your very new website. In general cases site is indexed without setting up Google analytic just by doing the basic see which I have mentioned above. However, sometimes you won’t get your site indexed after using those methods. In such case you may worry much and start searching for help. Just set up analytic and see your site indexed in Google.

Note: Please add at least one interesting/valuable article/content in your website before doing anything. So that you can bookmark the content in popular bookmarking sites also which will help you to get indexed even faster.

Indexing within 15 minutes:

You will need a really interesting content and you should be active social media user like in site digg.com, mixx.com

Submit your content to such sites. If you get around 30 diggs in digg.com then you will get indexed in a minute. However, you will have to be active user in such sites. New users can get maximum of 1 digg which still helps you somehow! 🙂

Sorry for the informal article and not “good enough English” as always. 🙂

Google analytics is a must have for every blog and website. I use it on my Blogger blog and some other WordPress blogs that I have. Glad you figured out the problem.
BTW, I found your site from Blog Engage. Good luck with it.

Great article. As an SEO consultant I hate submitting just a small Website Domain that isn’t helpful to sites like Digg. It works but it might hurt the Digg user more. I see these types of link submission as spam and almost never go to them anyways.

As for being a social media user, I have been spending more and more time on these sites trying to build a profile and I still only get one or 2 diggs / votes on each site and those are usually only when I request them from friends.

I normally submit only valuable information to a social bookmarking site and I have 6 to 8 sites I use depending on the subject of the article I am submitting. I generally get indexed in about 30 minutes to an hour.

That is really weird that even after you did all of the above steps your website was still not archived in Google. I think that it is very useful to do social media and Google Analytics… but I’m surprised that you didn’t get a bit more attention straight off the bat.

Suggestions are really helpfula and it is very unusual that a site was not indexed after the basic steps. I know Baba, you have learned a lot about SEO and play very nicely in this field.

I used GoogleAnalytics for all of my site to collect stats but never realized, this could force google bot! Google uses different crawlers for its different services – Adsense bot is completely different than google bot. Does the frequent crawl of Analytics really help to get indexed?

There might be many reasons why your site was not indexed. Read my latest post on “Oh No! Am I in Bad Neighbourhood? http://bit.ly/akJhm0“. Second thing, do you know posts in Digg with few diggs are nofollow. Hence no benefit of few diggs to your google indexing.
Despite all these facts, without socializing your site/post, you still get your post indexed within 30 minutes with Zero PR.

@ Imran, though Digg is NoFollow, if you get 30+ diggs then your page will be indexed in a minute. Tested with brand new site. Registered domain today itself and posted a article same day and then submitted to digg.com It was indexed within a minute. Basically, a power user must submit it to digg. Normal users submitting won’t work out.

@Suresh, yep ! Google analytics is one of the best tool to get your site indexed.

You were lucky 😉

I have had a blog that was cut off from indexing out of the blue in mid-March. Has been crawled every day (maybe because of long-installed GA), new original content every day, auto posted to Twitter Linked In etc. I sent a request to Google and seemingly have been denied (altho older posts are still indexed thank God). I believe my problem is links plain and simple, which i don’t have ;( But thanks for sharing your ideas – it’s always good to see what others are struggling with and trying to do to solve it…

@ Malik, To index your updates in google you need to do the following :
– Set Up Google feedburner
– Set up Google webmaster + analytic
– Submit your RSS feed to feed directories.
– Ping via ping-o-matic or some other each time you update.
– And keep building quality backlinks
– Also, if you update your site often regularly you will get indexed in no time.

Its all about inviting the google to your site. Feed google, attract google bot then it will visit your site often and index the updates.
