Nepal Telecom Plans to give high speed internet connection
International users get sucked when they hear that we are unable to use more than 256kbps internet connection although it is fact here. Many of us are suffering by not being able to download what we want in high speed. We have to wait hours to get a average file downloaded. The download speed is generally 30kbps-40kbps and downloading 500mb file will take around 5-6 hours if the internet connection doesn’t break in between. As i mentioned in my earlier post that internet connection disconnects time to time we cannot expect to download big files. In the news few day ago NTC said that it will now allow users to use upto 2Mbps connection but ib volume basis. Means we will have to pay money according to bandwidth consumed. Currently we are using unlimited connection.
What rate can we expect ?
I don’t think that rates will be cheap but it is yet to see the price list. Anyways, it will be good for users who are in need of high speed connection. NTC is giving 512kps connection for official use which is highest speed available in the country. Few days back i talked with a worldlink communication staff, which is largest cable internet provider in nepal, who said that Worldlink is also going to give high speed connection of upto 512kbps to normal users. I will be using wlink connection if they upgrade the speed upto 512 kbps. Else, there is no option than shifting to ADSL of NTC
Is there possibility of new ISP in Nepal ?
There are hardly about 10 ISP in nepal and few are leading. Mercantile, Wlink and NTC are the three leading service providers followed by websurfer. Among these wlink is popular for its okay service and cheap rates. ADSL seems to be cheapest but the service is not good enough like wlink. These days wlink is also unable to provide quality service which is being plus point to NTC ADSL. Being a government service NTC ADSL internet is being popular these days. I don’t think any new ISP can handle the market here unless it is international company.
Lets hope we will be able to use good internet service soon.:)

if ntc can provide omre then 1mbps it’s better for us as normal user
what about unlimited users?they are giving 512 kbps or 1024 kbps for volume based users,at least 512kb ta 900 rupees ma diye hunthyo unlimited users haru lai,aru des ma chai 100 mb bhanda dherai ko internet chalcha hamro ta kahilay bicha mai internet tutcha ra internet pani slow 1oo kb ma chalcha.
NTC is sucking nepalese customers and also other ISPs are. Even in India, one cat get 2mpbs internet connection with the rate we are paying just for only 128kbps. Isn’t that ridiculous. What is volume based? It’s absolutely so called bramhalut of our money. They are saying that IT tech is way to prosper our nation. so why NTC and other ISPs are ignoring to provide 1mbps of internet connection to normal customers at affordable price (monthly basis not on volume basis). They are capable of providing us such speed but they dont’ want to. Coz they want to suck our money… They are f..,ing money suckers.

Fuck the ntc!! They should eat our shit!!! They suck our money and provide such poor service that it gets disconnected for as much as 100 times a day. And when you complain, they blame our modems. I would like to bomb the people working there.
1 year ago I used my ntc(dialup) connection.1 month ago I used my UTL data sim connection and now i m using Wlink connection.
The best thing here is the internet speed.With every change of ISP’s I do have change in my internet connectivity.
Although the price of internet in Nepal is very high but still Internet is the fastest growing service in Nepal.
As time goes I m sure we will be gettin good connection speed with less price.
Anything new will certainly work better than the last one.NTC has introduced their scheme
and it will be very expensive but wlink is trying their best to improve their connection.
NCELL will soon emerge as a new and fast face for all of us coz they have spread their fibre cables here in the far west.

The people who work in ISP providing companies are foolish.
Why i m saying this is because many of my friends have stolen their bandwidth for free
and they increased their bandwidth to 70kb/s.Before the hack their down speed was like 30-35kb/s.
I don’t encourage hacking but remember if the ISP providing people will be smart then u will be caught.

i have been using ntc since it has started so far i have not changed the subscriber introduction module and continuing with the ntc.Eventhough i am bored with the ntc now i want to change the sim because of poor signal strength in our area and i would like to use 3G service in future if it will provide by the operator.
NTC sucks … It is not stable and net speed is too slow nowadays .

N.T.C ko worker haru sansar ma sab bhanda unproductive worker haru madhe huna parcha. ADSL ko service request gareko thiye .. 3 din pachi internet aaucha bhanera lhayo .. tara dherai din takheta gare pachi 15th day ma matra internet service aai pugyo. Paisa bhane chi day one dekhi nai tirayo.

Ntc is realy a money sucker of thousands interet users.These days it increases a bit download speed not the upload speed.when can we be able to use 1 mbps or more speed in our nation?is there any ISP who will provide 1 mpbs worth 500/m?

Dear, there is a major difference between between kbps and KBps.
kbps=Kilo Bits per sec
KBps=Kilo bytes per sec
If any ISP is providing 256kbps(now 384kbps for adsl), then ur maximum download speed is 48KBps.
Now technically speaking 1KBps=8kbps
so 384kbps as u speak provided by ntc will give u a download speed of 384/8=48KBps.

@Alex: mero ta 140 KBPS ma hunthyo yar, 100 MB ko data lai less than 16 min ma garthyo. But now….khai k vayo speed feri dekhi tei 200 sal purano vacha. maile ta sunchu ki NTC le ADSL ko quality improve garcha. Let’s just hope it’s true and we get some nice speeds.

I read the overall comments above but accordingly found the bad aspects of NTC ADSL, but lining up my experience with the ADSL Service (I’ve 128 kbps), its workin good.
Web surfing is near to the best,
Video Streaming is lightly flawed but works fine nowadays,
Download rate is 108 kbps – 130 kbps (sometimes) [but it depends upon choosing the server nearby],
Overall Satisfied!!!
